Better Air Quality Tips

Most people are not aware of the amount of dust, pollen, fungi, smoke, and other particles that are present in their homes, since these are mostly too small to see. here are some tips for keeping your indoor air clean and healthy.

Tips for Better Indoor Air Quality

Suck it up, Mop it up, Clean it up

Use a vacuum with a HEPA filter to suck up chemicals, allergens and other household dust. Be sure to wash your floors regularly as well with warm, soapy water, and dust at least once a week. Tip: Using a slightly damp rag to dust allows you to collect the dust rather than just moving it around.

And don't let dust and allergens from outside be dragged into the house, either. Place a heavy-duty door mat outside your door, and don't walk around the house with your outdoor shoes on!

Invest in a Dehumidifier

Moisture allows mold and dust mites to thrive. Keep your indoor air humidity at around 30% - 50% to keep them, and other allergens, under control. Together, dehumidifiers and air conditioners help reduce indoor air moisture and effectively control allergens.

Install a UV Air Purifier or Air Cleaner

Ultraviolet air treatment systems kill mold that would grow in the cool, damp interiors of your air conditioning system. Electronic, HEPA or  Media air cleaners provide extra filtration and are more effective that your furnace or air conditioner filters alone, and can remove up to 94% of the particles that would otherwise pass through your home's system.
